Pastor Bob Welsh has been serving as Senior Pastor of Providence since October, 2000. He previously served as Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Missouri for 16 years. He received his BS degree from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville and his theological education at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City. Pastor Bob and his wife Chris have two daughters and four grandchildren. Jennifer Warren and her husband Gary live near Macon, Missouri and have three children; Ashlynn, Austin, and Addisyn. Angela Carson and her husband Jeff live in Jefferson City, MIssouri and have one son, Micah.
Steven Nelson has been serving as the Associate Pastor of Providence Baptist Church Since September, 2007. His responsibilities include evangelism, missions, and discipleship. Steven was called by God to the Gospel ministry at the age of 14 and ordained by the New HopeBaptistChurch. He has attended OzarkChristianCollege, Joplin, MO; SouthwestBaptistUniversity, Bolivar, MO; and is currently finishing his Bachelor’s Degree at Midwestern Baptist College, Kansas City. Steven has served as Evangelism Captain / Summer Missionary at Missouri Southern Baptist Student Union, Joplin, MO; Assistant Pastor at Connor Baptist Mission, Joplin, MO; Pastor at New Hope Baptist, Halltown, MO; and Interim Pastor at BuncetonBaptistChurch, Bunceton, MO.Additional ministry experiences include leading campus evangelism projects, participating in Disciple Now Weekends, leading in door to door evangelism events, and organizing evangelistic block parties, church conferences and mission trips.Pastor Steven is an avid MU Tiger fan and has a passion for biblical archeology. He and his wife Dana have two daughters, Lydia and Lauryn.
Minister of Music Randy Gunn accepted the Lord's call to lead worship at PBC in 2006. Randy and his wife, Donna, have attended Providence since June 2002, along with their youngest daughter, Christiana and their son Michael. Their older daughter, Nannette, resides in Nashville TN with her husband, Brian Swinford. Randy has led congregational worship and choir in several churches over the past 35 years.
Minister of Youth Tim Vantuy has been serving at Providence since August, 2002. He previously served the youth at Sherwood Bible Church for 9 years in Kansas City. Tim received his BA degree in Pastoral Studies with an emphasis in youth from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago in 1992. He also received his MBA at Keller Graduate School of Devry in 2001. In addition to serving as minister of youth at Providence Tim also works for the internal controls department at DST and is an adjunct faculty member at Keller Graduate School of Management. Tim and his lovely wife Dee have 4 kids.
PBC Youth Ministry missions statement: Our mission is to help young people grow closer to God one step at a time by building relationships with them, training them with the Word, and placing them in service.
Jennifer has been the church secretary/office manager for almost 6 years (this time!). She has worked for past ministers and always filled in for a secretary when someone was on vacation. She has been a member of Providence since 1990. Jennifer has been on many different committees over the years, worked with the youth, plays in the handbell choir for specials and has seen technology make great advances. When she was first hired, there was a mimeograph machine in the office and an electric typewriter! Now she enjoys running the video screens during the Sunday morning worship services. Jennifer has been married to her husband, Tom, for 23 years and has 3 children.
